Acknowledgement and Blessings To Our Church Ministries

10-18-09
On Mission Sunday, St. Matthew honored and blessed our minisitry groups with prayers and pins.  Among those honored were our lectors, mass servers, altar servers, ushers, choir, music, building and grounds, religious education, parish council and finance, and parish administration.  Also honored were various other individuals, groups and committees:  fish fry, bake sales, decorating, funeral dinners, Texas Hold'Em events, website, and more.  These are the people that help to make our parish flourish and grow.  Thank you to ALL for ALL that you do.  May God Bless You.
Principles of Catholic Stewardship
of Time, Talents and Treasure
"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace." (Peter 4:10)
The word "stewardship" refers to the Catholic approach to the gifts that God has bestowed upon us.  Stewardship is being Christ-centered rather than self-centered.  Profound gratitude, justice and love become the fundamental motives for giving back to God. Everything that God has given to us is intended to serve His divine plan.  Therefore, our life is to be lived in gratitude toward God.  In a variety of ways, we as disciples of Jesus Christ, can share our time, talent and treasure to support the Church, and make our world a better place...

Think:
  • Volunteering
  • Supporting
  • Donating
  • Joining
  • Participating
  • Paying It Forward...

It feels good to give, to help, to belong...
to our family...
our neighbor...
our church...
our community...
our world.

Thank You – Behind the Scenes
I want to take this opportunity to thank so many of our behind the scenes volunteers.  If I omit someone’s name it is because I do not have a formal list or realize you do help.  So many of you make a dish to pass for the funeral dinners, or bake for a bake sale, or fish fry dinner.  Some of you are regulars in the kitchen  helping with the funeral dinners:  Judy Rugenstein, Joyce Dorey, Sharon DeLong, Joan Farago, Carole Inman, Dorothy Peters, Virginia Schultz, Bill Menzl, Jim Summerfield, Don and Donna Metiva, Ed Spyker, and Ken Taylor.  Counters:  Annette Galarno, Sharon DeLong, Joan Farago, Judy Rugenstein, Joyce Dorey, Bev Rivette, Pat Newman, Nancy Rouech, and Ellen Zirkle.  Church Linens:  Joyce Dorey, Judy Rugenstein, Carole Inman, Mary Timm.  Church Cleaning & Décor:  Diana Bismack, Cindy Clark, Kerrie Clark, and Judy Plowdrey; cleaning pews: Nancy Rouech, Janet Jolin, Dorothy Peters.  Mr. Fix it – I especially want to thank Bill Menzl for coming to the rescue when we have a last minute emergency that requires mechanical expertise regarding the boilers, air conditioners, or plumbing.  Texas Hold’em Chairs:  Tom Mehalski and Barb Kelly who organize the workers and keep the bookkeeping and money balanced, and all the workers who give a couple hours a night or some a whole night, and others who take the wee hours of the morning.  Next week, I will list all the Texas Hold’em Workers.
